Frequently asked questions

A place to keep a gift wishlist and share it with the people you choose, like family or friends. Everyone can see what you would like, and people can mark what they have bought so two people do not buy the same thing. You never see what has been bought from your own list, so surprises stay surprises.

Yes. Sign up with your name, email and a password, then confirm your email. You can use Giftagraph on a phone or computer in your web browser, and you can add it to your phone's home screen (see the Install on your phone note at the bottom of the page).

A group is the set of people who can see each other's lists, such as your family. When you start a group you get a short invite code. Share that code with the people you want to join, and they enter it under Join with a code. Only share the code with people you trust.

The person who started the group has to approve you first. While you wait, you can fill in your own list, but you cannot see anyone else's list, and nobody else can see yours. You will see a "Waiting for approval" note. As soon as you are approved, your list appears for the group and you can see everyone else's.

If you started the group, the home page shows how many people are waiting for you. Open the group and use the Members section: press Approve to let someone in, or Decline to turn them away. Under In this group you can press Remove (twice, to confirm) next to anyone who should no longer be in the group. Removing someone also removes their list from that group.

On the sign-in screen choose Forgot password?, enter your email, and follow the link we send you.

No. Your list lives on your profile, under My List. On the home page, under Your profile, press Open and start adding gifts. It is yours alone until you choose to show it to a group.

Yes. Open your profile and look under Where this list is shown. Check every group that should see it. You only keep one list up to date, and anything you add, change or remove shows in all of them. If you would rather have a different list in each group, leave them unchecked. When you join a group you already have gifts for, Giftagraph also asks whether to show that list there or start a fresh one.

When your list is shown in more than one group, someone in one group can mark a gift as bought. People in your other groups see "Bought by someone outside this group", with no name, so the gift is still taken and nobody buys it twice. You never see any purchase marks on your own list.

Open your list and press Add new item. Type a name, and if you like add a link, price, options (like size or colour) and a photo. You can also fill an item in from a screenshot of a store page: choose Or add from a screenshot, and Giftagraph reads the name, price and options from the picture. Always check what it filled in before you save.

Rate each item from 1 to 5 stars so people know what you want most. Items you rate 5 stars also appear in your Most Wanted tab.

Tabs help you sort a long list, for example Clothes, Games or Auto parts. Press + Tab to make one, then add items to it or select several items and use Move to tab. You can rename or delete a tab at any time. Deleting a tab never deletes your items; they stay in All. Other people in your group can open your tabs too.

Yes. Each item has a main link and an alternate link with its own price. Giftagraph points out the lower price when both are filled in.

Yes. Above your list, use Excel, PDF or Print. They follow the tab you have open. You can also import a list from an Excel file in the Add panel. Saved and printed lists never show what has been bought.

They are shown with your list so gift-givers know what to buy. Fill them in once and they appear for everyone in your groups.

When you look at someone else's list, tick the box in the Bought column next to what you bought. Everyone in the group except the list's owner can then see it is taken.

No. The person whose list it is can never see purchases from their own list. This is enforced by the database itself, not just hidden on the screen.

Yes. Under Who can see my list, uncheck anyone you do not want to see it, or use Select all and Deselect all. People you hide it from still see what has been bought on other lists they can see.

Yes. Open their list and choose Hide this list from my view. It only changes what you see.

Only the people in the groups you belong to, and only on lists you have not hidden from them.

Open the Your account section on the home page and choose Add a profile picture (or Change picture). The name your group sees is under About you: press Edit, change it, then press Done.

A unique handle, like @chris23, that belongs only to you. You choose it when you sign up, or in Your username on the home page if you joined before usernames existed. It is 3 to 20 letters, numbers or underscores, and after you set it you can change it once every 30 days. It is shown next to your name on your list.

Yes. Names with vulgar, harassing or hateful words are not accepted, in names, group names and tab names. If a normal name is blocked by mistake, send us a suggestion and we will fix it.

At the bottom of a group page choose Leave group. It removes you and your list from that group. If that list is also shown in your other groups, it moves to your list instead of disappearing. Gifts you marked as bought stay marked.

Only the person who started the group can. Open the group, scroll to Delete this group, press the button and type the group's name to confirm. The group is removed for everyone, and lists that exist only in it are deleted. If someone also shows their list in other groups, it is kept on their profile.

On the home page, in Your account, choose Delete my account. This removes your account and your lists for good and cannot be undone.

Try closing the site completely and reopening it, then signing in again. If it still goes wrong, press Suggestions at the top of the page and tell us what happened, including which phone or browser you use.
